Notes from Dr. Keith, Double R (Rob Rieck), and Pizza Guy Jim:
- Pizza Guy Jim says the town of SR is around 400. Which means that approximately half the town showed up for the WLW show, as Dr. Keith estimates the crowd at 175-200. There were a lot of little kids at the event, who reacted to everyone as if it was WrestleMania. The crowd was described by all as one of the best wrestling crowds ever for a show.
- There were 5 matches on the entire card (it started at 7:06 PM and ended at 9:20 PM), which included a 30-minute intermission.
- The third match on the show was a 6-man tag featuring WLW school trainees Daniel Cross & Jason Bates, teaming up with Sabu to take on Takeshi Rikio, Takeshi Morishima, & Naomichi Marufuji. The finish was in 14'45 when Rikio used the Muso on Bates for the win. The highlights of the match included Rikio selling offense from every single wrestler on Sabu's team and Sabu doing all of his traditional wacky spots with Rikio, Morishima, and Marufuji. The Japanese guys were over as monster babyfaces and their opponents got major heat.
- The show was taped by Samurai TV (two-camera shoot). Ken Hirayama (who is the manager of NOAH's Hawaii "office") and Ryu Nakata (the long-time famous ring announcer who is NOAH's office manager) were both in attendance. Hirayama continued his long-standing tradition of kayfabing people about his English speaking skills (that kayfabe wore down as the night went on, however). Fumio Kuroda (freelance photographer/writer) appeared at the show (he was working for Weekly Pro Wrestling magazine).
- In the GHC Jr. Title match (semi-main event), KENTA defeated Ace Steel in 19'53 with the Fireman's Carry hold into the "go 2 sleep" finisher. The go 2 sleep is the high kick to the opponent when they are in the air and falling to the ground. This was considered to be Ace Steel's best match in the last 3-4 years. A very, very good match with the entire crowd chanting "KEN-TA! KEN-TA!" the entire time and Steel getting monster heat. They slowed the match pace a little bit more towards American style, but delivered big in the end.
- The main event was considered to be a horrific match by the PPH road crew, as it was a 3-way match for the WLW title featuring Keith Walker (who looks like an independent wrestling version of Batista) vs. Wild Wade Chism vs. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. The match lasted 5'40 with Chism pinning Walker. Beefcake took two bumps in the entire match and basically held Chism the entire time for Walker to punch.
- Dr. Keith was able to get KENTA to hold up a copy of Bryan Alvarez's Figure Four Weekly newsletter and this will be displayed in picture format shortly.
- After the show, the NOAH staff drove from Waterloo, Iowa to Kansas City (this is a far, far distance) so that they could work in Warsaw, Missouri on Sunday night. The NOAH staff will fly to the East Coast on Tuesday.

more to come....but for now since I just got home some brief notes: -The crowd was amazing, these people wanted entertainment and certainly got it, seriously during the women's match (the former ODB now known in the family friendly WLW as JESSICA~! vs. the WLW Women's Champion Josie) it felt like they were watching WrestleMania. They really f**king loved it. It really made me remember the awesome power of wrestling (and love) -The national anthem was sung, yet the Japanese national anthem was totally forgotten about -Beefcake was selling Hogan 8X10s. Really. -The Ace Steel comment was all PGJ (Pizza Guy Jim). It was an incredible match though, worth the five hour dive, of course it was worth it to see Sabu do SABU SPOTS~! with Rikio. -Again, it was awesome to see these guys in such a small place, it seemed to be in the downtown district of the town. They don't even have a high school in the town anymore and everyone there was super nice and beer was only $2 -The crowd showed Rikio more love then during his entire GHC title reign, and all the NOAH guys seemed happy to be there. All the kids loved the Japanese guys, even though they probably never seen them until tonight. -Harley read a proclimation and put over the match hard afterward. He also advised the kids not to do this at home, which sounds preachy but was kinda cool. WLW runs a tight ship as the show went by so damn quick. -The main event was not really horrific. It was just odd seeing a 30 minute intermission, for a 5 minute main event. Keith Walker (formerally of Chicago) looks like a million bucks, like a Lesnar/Batista hybrid. Beefcake bumped 3 times, and looked like a huge Zebra. -Morishima and Rikio watched KENTA-Steel from the stands, Rikio was shirtless, wearing basketball shorts and a towel. -The Japanese press rules. Samurai TV! GUY~! looks like KENTA's brother. -There was only f*** the entrie night (considering the crowd had lots of kids) it was Sabu as he hit the triple jump moonsault on Marufuji -Ken Hirayama was a super nice guy, and talked to me about NOAH in 2006, his english was very good. Zach said it might be kayfabing me, I was happy he just at least talked to me espcially after finding out I do the PPH~!

"-The national anthem was sung, yet the Japanese national anthem was totally forgotten about"
No attempt at sarcasm here, I duobt WLW (or pretty much any North American company) has a copy of the Japanese anthem laying around for use. I'm not even sure where you would get one. I mean if I walked into HMV and went "I need a copy of the Japanese national anthem, STAT", I'm pretty sure I could get a blank stare in return.
"and beer was only $2"

Keith, that one shot of you is about a 79 out of 10 on an 'excited' scale

Ken kayfabed us at the NOAH/WLW camp about his Engrish skills. He had a reason to do that to us, so we wouldn't bug him. I can see why he might drop his guard with fans and you guys.
Keith Walker was at the NOAH/WLW training camp. He was heavily favored by Harley's guys. He was fine, but didn't exhibit any extraordinary skills. However, he is quite muscular (he's no Batista, though) and most promoters will mark out for muscles over skill any day. I think he had some experience and he might be training with Harley, too.
That camp was very cliquey so I never talked to him. He hung out with Streetfighter and Harley's boys.
Yes, I'm still bitter about that camp. No, I won't get over it. Shut up.
The Japanese guys weren't even in the main event? You have a former (recent) GHC champion in the middle of a tiny Indy show in Iowa while Beefcake works the main. Where's the humanity?
Seriously though, Beefcake could sell 8x10s of each of his gimmicks and if he sold only one of each he would be a millionaire!

I suggest that the PPH has found the picture for any E-Card at Christmas attempt.

So apparently the only ring outfit Brutus hasn't pawned yet is his old Zodiac Man costume

If it was IZU, I bet you'd top the 80 out of 10 on the 'excited' scale.

I love this pic because this is what I imagine a team of Rikio, Marufuji, and Yone as a pirate would look like.
