sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight/headlines/20121209-00000043-dal-fight.htmlKobashi told the fans at the show that he will have a retirement match in 2013. Multiple outlets report that the goal is to have the last fight at Nippon Budokan. Kobashi revealed that he had surgery last July but rehab didn't go as well as hoped and that it was impossible for him to return to action on a regular basis. He was emotional about the fact that wrestling is his life but that he would have to retire soon. **** Notes from Kobashi's in-ring interview today at Ryogoku: - All the fans were crying when they heard Kobashi talk about retirement. - Kobashi's had numbness issues with his left arm and left leg for four years. - He has problems with his knees, neck, hips, elbows, and shoulders. He admitted that his body is entirely damaged due to all the matches he's been involved in. - Kobashi's biggest regret in the retirement decision is that the news came out in Tokyo Sports and that he didn't have a chance to deliver the news on his own terms. - A retirement match plan will likely be discussed in a couple of weeks at the NOAH Differ Ariake event. - Kobashi had surgery at the end of July, right after Takeshi Rikio's retirement ceremony at Ryogoku. The surgery in question is believed to be anterior cervical fusion surgery, which involves a transplant of some pelvic bone into the neck. He had the surgery, had an accident with a cracked pelvis that delayed rehab, and a piece of ceramic was used. Ceramic usage is not entirely uncommon with this kind of surgery. - His body isn't responding the way he would like to in terms of rehab and it has limited his training. He is only starting light training now. It will likely be until Spring 2013 before a real determination can be made for the retirement bout.
