I don't know man, it was starting to get stale after the PRIDE Finals last year, and Zuffa going global just sort of rubs me the wrong way.
It was more fun a few years back when there wasn't two events every month, you didn't have to keep track of so much.
This board is fuggin' dead and Zach stopped reporting MMA news on the main page, where I got my info from anyway.
And its become so popular, back in the day I felt like it was "our" sport, which sounds stupid I know, but now these guys I work with who don't know anything ask me about Diego vs. Koscheck and Liddell and all these UFC guys I f*cking hate, I tell 'em Mirko Cro Cop is the shit and the man to watch, they barely know him.
Tamura hardly fights anymore, Gomi's getting beat, K-1 continues to suck and Le Banner is a shadow.
I'm going to go watch a British Bulldogs DVD now.

Come on Tech, lighten up. Yes this board has kind of died out, which has forced me to over the Underground forum board. But I am just waiting my time until Frank Dux's website starts back up and he has anotehr message board so I can continue with important discussions like what really happened the night Zane Frazier kicked Dux's ass.
Look at all the other great events you get to see every month. A Bodog ppv. A Gracie ppv coming up with Mosnon vs. Wes Sims. IFL is on free tv.
You get Mirko on free tv, if even for the 10 seconds the fight will last. You get to a Pride lightweight grand prix coming up with UFc fighters mixed in with the Pride guys. You might even get to a Florian vs. Gomi final. And, hell, you might get see Timura jobbed out on a Ultimate Fight Night against Keith Jardine. Yes, I am not really overly pumped at the chance of watching another Battle at the Bellagio coming up. But who knows, maybe you'll get to see LeBanner vs. Slyvester Terkay.
And anyway we all know, mma was on the down slope on April 7th 1995 when Royce did his last fight in the UFC. And they started using all those stupid rules and rounds thing.
The Bulldogs did take tag team wrestling to another level. But I am still kind of fond of the Killer Bees myself. No gimmick in pro wrestling history, not even the Midnight Rider, can compare to "Mask Confusion."

Oh yeah, your love of Mirko still sickens me to my core.

I've lost more and more interest in mma as the years have gone by purely because i fail to see the point of it anymore. When the early UFC and Japanese shows started it was a great idea to me, like someone had been watching pro wrestling and playing beat em ups on the SNES and thought how cool it would be if they did this thing for real, world class fighters from different combat sports coming together in a no holds barred environment to see who's the man. Now (particularly with UFC) all i see is a bunch of good Thai boxers with a decent understanding of jujitsu fighting to see who the king jack of all trades is. Plus the never ending comparisons with wrestling drive me mad.

Over saturation of the product, IMO. On one hand, for the first time in my life, I don't feel like a elitist social outcast at work. But on the other, as Technosphile mentioned, it seems like I have to answer questions about mixed martial arts that at times annoy the hell out of me. It seems like almost every other day, I'm going into detail about the histories of Pride and UFC (or at least the stuff I have read on sites like this one). Honestly, being the outcast during the ECW and early UFC days in high school makes me realize that, I would rather have the popularity of UFC be like this then how it was when I was a "smark geek". At least I have something to talk to another human being about in person .

There needs to be another strong Pro-wrestling fighter in M.M.A. If there was another fighter, in the vein of Sakuraba. The sport would flourish more.
