Well, 411 pulled a 1wrestling and spawned a new "megasite" called Inside Pulse. Now, anyone who knows the 'net wrestling scene knows that people like Scott Keith are many things (insert opinion here), but more than anything, they bring the equivalent of ratings.
Another thing that's missing is consistent coverage of puroresu. Oh sure there's been some copy/paste crap, and regurgitation of the big stories, and there's also a sad tendency to hype current big tapes as being loaded with ****+ matches when that isn't necessarily the case. Puro's rich history is often ignored, or at least misrepresented.
So with that in mind I offered my services to InsidePulse as an all-purpose puro columnist (using the recent PuroPower columns as samples). I'd focus on news, but I'll also be able to write about pretty much anything else I want. Thus I'd like to be able to reach out and help educate the rather unwashed WWE-watching masses, much as I do on a micro scale at my tiny personal site. And now I turn to you, the puropower community, for help.
How should I go about this? Biographies? Match reviews? Backstories on the federations and/or titles? Analysis of current events? Simplistic introductions to the basic elements of Japanese wrestling? There's so much to say, and I'm only mildly qualified to do much of it.
In addition to advice on the approach I should take, I'd also like to ask those of you with more knowledge of the old school to lend me a hand from time to time. I only manage to expand my tape library at a crawl compared to the expansive collections several of you have.
So, there you have it, I'm going to do my level best to promote Japanese wrestling without shilling it; to inform about the in's and out's of yesterday and today; and most importantly, to sneak in links to PPH episodes I'm in. Maybe the column bombs, maybe it doesn't. We'll see.
