Though most of the article is shit, this: "It also offends our sense of fair play to watch a lone referee try to police an area the size of Rhode Island and then get blamed for the outcome by whichever team loses. And regardless of how passionate we are about our sports teams, we draw the line at pipe bombs."
Should be wholeheartedly supported by anyone with even a passing interest in any sport whatsoever.
Still, a crap article written by a biggoted piece of shit.
Not as bad in terms of it's description of the action as watching the British try and write about the NHL or the NFL mind you, but still crap.
"Do you guys wonder why Al Qaeda exists?............. "
You sir, are also a biggoted piece of shit.
Back to my cricket now.

British articles anout the NFL are indeed excrement, however this can be somewhat explained by the fact that outside America and to a far lesser extent Canada, no one on earth gives a damn about this pathetic excuses for a "sport" Hockey, however is a superb game which can enjoyed by all. Especialy welcome is when Russia or Canada give the yanks a good hammering. American sporting arrogance is especialy gauling, simply because it isnt based on anything besides Americans own deluded sense of self importance. Unlike pop culture et al, which although irritating, is probably justified.

I don't give a toss about the NFL either. But I'm Canadian.
Still, that Al-Quaeda comment up above of yours is really complete shit. As if Al-Quaeda give a damn what Americans think about soccer.
Arabs don't relatively care about soccer. Anyone who knows their shit will tell you it's cricket, that field hockey junk, or nothing. ;-)
But jokes about what's popular in Pakistan aside, I still think that Al-Queda comment is a bit low brow. Even for you.
"American sporting arrogance is especialy gauling"
That's about the first agreeable thing you've said... um, ever?
"WORLD CHAMPIONS OF TEH NFL>>>>!!!!!!!!1111111111111"

Ohhhh, no sorry. I have had the pleasure of watching cricket in Sharjah and there wasnt an local in sight, it was wall-to-wall Pakistani and Indian ex-pats. Superb ground by the way.
Now, some facts
Bin-Laden was a big Arsenal fan and regulally attended games when he lived in London. He once likened the Mudjahadeen to football suporters. (probably not a great indicment on soccer fans)
Ayatollah Khomeni was a HUGE soccer fan and refused to ban it in Iran after the revolution. Iranian premier league matches regulally sell out 90,000 seat stadiums. There is also a thriving soccer league in Qatar (and a massive wrestling scene too) and Eqypt, Tunisa, Morroco et all have a long history of football.
More facts tomorrow, after i sober up
peace out!

In India and Pakistan it's cricket all the way but pretty much everywhere else in that region is all about football (soccer) in fact most of Italy's major clubs are funded by arab oil tycoons these days.
And for those of you interested... Day 1 results Germany 4 - 2 Costa Rica Ecuador 2 - 0 Poland

Germany and Argentina looked good so far. England were altogether ungodly awfull against the might of Paraguay.
USA to do well again this time round?
maybe last 8?

England are always slow starters and when Rooney gets back we should at least make last 8. The USA are better than four years ago but i wouldn't give them much chance of winning a game as they have a horrible group. Italy are one of the favorites, Czech Republic are aging but still are a good outside bet to win it and Ghana look really powerful as well.

Czech Rep 3- 0 USA Italy 2- 0 Ghana
Czech's completely outclassed USA while Ghana looked good against a quality Italian team.

Bill O'Reilly forgeting 1400 years of sectarian islamic bloodletting and 3 years of non stop Sunni - Shia violence in Iraq:
"Iran will then dominate the gulf region and partner up with Al Qaeda."
Good old Bill
